BSL Typeface
Typography
I designed and developed a typeface inspired by British Sign Language’s (BSL) fingerspelling. The letterforms were structured within a 5x5 grid to represent our hands. The rounded edges emulate the shape of our fingers, and the two colours differentiate between left and right hands.
This personal project originated from my curiosity to visually represent the expressive and performative aspects of BSL, which I explored while studying. Additionally, I aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the process involved in designing and constructing a typeface.
