Roald Dalh’s Marvellous Children’s Charity Re-brand

Pitch . Branding . Illustration

Task: To evolve the charity’s logo and visual identity, with the main goal of improving public understanding around the charity’s mission (providing specialist nurses and support for seriously ill children). Making it clear that the charity provides nurses and not books/literacy.

Outcome: A re-brand that simplifies their logo and clarifies their purpose.

Before ‘Marvin’ the crocodile was unidentifiable as a nurse and felt detachable from the logo. Now the brand mascot is seamlessly integrated, into his rightful place, and with a new pride in his nurses’ hat.

The type has been simplified to capture the joy and craft of the Roald Dahl typography, and to not draw your attention from the brand’s more own-able features: Marvin and ‘Marvellous’.

Furthermore it was always design with scalability in mind, I wanted the logo to be identifiable in an icon that could be rolled out across fundraising assets and social profile pictures.
